Calviá is a quiet and beautiful municipality of the Balearic Islands. It is located in the western part of the island of Mallorca, next to the Sierra de Tramontana, and extends to the Sierra de Na Burguesa. Its capital is the village of Calviá.

There are 230 establishments, between luxury hotels and country houses, marinas, golf courses, tennis academies, hiking areas and an athletics court, it is the most important tourist municipality of the island. The highest height of the area is the puig de Galatzó which is 1,026 meters above sea level, the second peak, 926 meters above sea level is the Esclop, a mountain formed by a maze of ravines spread between hills such as Puig Batiat and Penya Blanca.

It is bordered to the north by the municipality of Puigpuñent and Estellenchs, to the east by Palma de Mallorca, to the west with Andratx and to the south by the Mediterranean Sea. Its population is distributed in the different urban centers created as a result of the tourist and urban development of the twentieth century. The most important areas for tourists and resorts in this area are Palma Nova, Portals Nous, which houses the renowned marina Puerto Portals (meeting place of entrepreneurs, celebrities, high society characters, as well as members of the Spanish royal family during their summer stays at Marivent Palace). Another of its tourist centers is Paguera, where many German citizens holiday and reside. Nearby are the luxury urbanizations El Toro, a residential area with a marina and a small beach, Son Ferrer, and Galatzó.

The coastline extends from Cape Andritxol to the area of Cas Catala Ses Illetes, with 34 beaches and coves. In this terrain there are five different natural habitats, so we find rocky coasts, sandy coasts, three salobrales, 10 small islands, and coastal sea, with a depth of up to 50 m. Its most outstanding islands are: the Sec, Sa Porrassa, d'en Sales, Ses Illetes, d'estenedor and Sa Caleta.
